For Readers of the Book

For readers of What Franchise To Buy

Send me your shortlist.

If you have narrowed it to two or three brands and cannot tell them apart, send me the list. I will give you an honest read on how they compare — where they differ on investment and ramp, what owners tend to say when you call them, and which of them tends to suit someone in a situation like yours.

There is no charge, and there is no pitch waiting at the end of it.

What I will do

  • Compare the brands you are weighing, side by side
  • Tell you what the validation calls usually surface for each
  • Point out where the owner’s job differs from how it was described
  • Say plainly when none of them fits

What I will not do

  • Read your FDD for you — that is an attorney’s job
  • Tell you what you are going to earn
  • Put you on a deadline
  • Add you to anything you did not ask for

The brands you are weighing

Two or three is ideal. If you are earlier than that, say so — where you are in the process is useful information on its own.

A word on how I am paid, because you should not have to wonder. Franchisors pay a placement fee when a buyer moves forward. That is why this costs you nothing, and it is also why my interest is in whether a brand fits you rather than in any brand in particular. You are not required to work with me, or with any consultant, to use everything in the book.
